Liverpool Novel Writing Club ✏️
My name is Gabrielle de la Puente and I am halfway through a novel. I want to be in touch with other people in Liverpool who are also partway through their own. The hope is that we can share works-in-progress with one another, test things out, but also that this group could be a way to exchange advice, writing strategies, opportunities and knowledge.
I am hoping that we can meet once every 2 months. I’ll be limiting the group size to 10 people so that we can really get stuck into things. I will be prioritising working class writers, or people who might not otherwise have access to this kind of conversation. Any amount of writing experience is welcome, don’t be self conscious. If this sounds like it would be useful for you, please send me a message letting me know what you are currently working on -> liverpoolcreativewritingclub@gmail.com
Some other bits:
I have funding from Arts Council England to cover 10 people’s travel within Liverpool for the first five events.
I had a venue but it’s fallen through. I’m aiming for a comfortable, quiet city centre space with toilets, and I’ll update this when I have somewhere new.
This is not for people who have an idea for a book and want to start writing one, because that would be a different conversation. This is for people who are already in the trenches, with a bunch of material they are trying to figure out.
Once the group has been formed, we can discuss the best days and times to meet.
Once we’re together, we can figure out how we want the sessions to run. I know what I want to get out of it but maybe there are things you want too. It’s not going to be a lecture by me but a conversation between all of us.
I have a chronic illness that means my energy fluctuates and I imagine some sessions will need to be rearranged. If you have any access requirements, let me know what would make you most comfortable in a club like this one, or feel free to ask questions in advance so we can figure it out together.
